I tried. I really tried. The color? The style? I desperately looked for something even remotely pleasant about it. But everything in me is telling me to shield my eyes before I go blind.

Look, I support women. I donate to Planned Parenthood and watch Olivia Wilde movies. But…my god.

Christian girl autumn has driven me to my breaking point. If I see one more chevron infinity scarf and tacky-ass striped sweater, I’m not sure what I’ll do.

Cardigans and ankle boots? Tank tops and jeans? Blazers??? What has the world come to? I’m afraid I might have to set fire to every Lord & Taylor across the globe, just to save the human race as we know it.

Okay, like, I understand that, in theory, social media and all of that means that we can be free to express ourselves and not be afraid of what people think. But maybe we should be a little more afraid. At least when it comes to willfully wearing skinny jeans in 2021.

And I know it’s like, if you think it’s cute, then nobody else’s opinion should matter. I get it. I’ve read The Care and Keeping of You

But at the same time… you’re not the one who has to look at it. I mean, for God’s sake have mercy! Even Kit Kittredge made sure Ruthie knew when her outfit shouldn’t see the light of day.

And by golly, that floral maxi dress is not deemed fit for public viewing. You don’t have to look like you jumped off the page of an Old Navy catalog, just saying…Save that for your weird kinky adventures.

When it comes to style, I personally like to take a minimalist approach. Because sometimes, wearing nothing at all is better than wearing a white blouse and slacks.

At least, that’s what my alleyway photographer told me at the sidewalk modeling auditions.
