The second season of Netflix’s hit period drama Bridgerton has had everyone from Tik Tok teens to four cat grandmas in a chokehold. With the show on the streaming giant’s Top 10 list, it seems that even the least likely candidates have started to fall in love with the four siblings that matter.

Carter Matheson, Treasurer of Kappa Delta Ethereum and moderator of the popular Twitter account “No Context Lady Danbury,” has come forward to bravely share his Bridgerton story with The Bunion. In an exclusive interview, the fraternity brother told us that his obsession began with a Netflix and chill session that got out of hand.

“This girl I’ve been texting for thirteen months came over to hang and she asked if we could watch Bridgerton,” he explained. At the time, Matheson, 21, no homo, had never heard of the show. “I thought it was a spy movie, cause it sounded like that British dude.”

The pair turned on the first episode and that’s when Matheson knew something was amiss. He got an odd feeling in his chest when an orchestral rendition of Shawn Mendes started playing (Bunion psychologists have since diagnosed the emotion as “delight” or “whimsy”). Soon, he was overcome with admiration for pastel fabric, silk gloves, and empire waistlines.

“Bro, the production value is off the charts,” he told us. “Like, they handcrafted such a specific aesthetic, man! That’s real artistry!”

Several hours later, he was still in front of the TV. Matheson’s date, who has threatened legal action if we publish her name, reluctantly told The Bunion that she tried to initiate a sexual encounter as they watched the show, but Matheson pushed her off the couch and yelled, “They’re about to brush hands!”

Matheson admits he spent the next 48 hours watching Bridgerton, even skipping his frat brother’s birthday party. “I said I had plans with a girl for our anniversary, but I was just halfway through Season 2.” But some of the fraternity even joined in on the Regency hype. “I related a lot to that Anthony guy,” Kappa Delta Ethereum member Kyle C. explained, “cause I’ve also been mad into girls who just want me to walk into the ocean and never come back.”

Despite his unusual background as a fan, Matheson has made peace with his new interest.

“Just like that time I got gonorrhea, I don’t think I’m getting over this show anytime soon. Like bro, the Vitamin String Quartet cover of You Oughta Know is my top song on Spotify now. It beat Redbone!”
